Mark introduced Elvin Kalinin, former Minister of Higher Education of the Soviet Union to U.S. Vice President Dan Quayle in 1990.

    "In 1990, Premier Mikhail Gorbachev's minister of Higher Education invited us to teach 150 Soviet business leaders principles of the Free Market /Entrepreneurship on a Volga cruise ship.
           "We soon established the first travel company to be invited to bring foreigners to the USSR! Thousands traveled on our cruise ships with Russians during those early years of Russia's break with Communism. 
           "Our traveling friends asked for more destinations and we happily obliged creating tours in China, Africa, South America, Israel, Eastern Europe and, well . . . all over the globe. 
           "In 2020, our new cruises to Russia were scheduled to feature Meridian hosts, Scot and Maurine Proctor, but Putin did his number.  A quick pivot took us to the pristine waters of Croatia's Dalmatian Islands. From there we have added a few "Bucket List" destinations each year.
